A Glimpse of Reality

Synopsis
I have been writing poetry for many years now, and only very recently sharing my writing with others. Everything I write refers to a personal experience to some degree. I have seen many things in my time, some of them not so pretty. I strive to find beauty, and share my findings with anyone who cares to listen. In my writing, I hope to show a beauty that most are too busy within their own lives to acknowledge

Beauty’s Shadow
Yesterday a rainbow sparkled in the sky.
Glowing colours enchanted everything it touched.
Birds sang cheerful lullabies.
Fresh dew sat upon the velvet petals of wild rose blossoms.
Yesterday the sky was blue.
A fresh breeze added to the wilderness.
Beautiful butterflies circled throughout the fields.
Did anyone notice?
Did anyone even care?
Today a rainbow is faint slowly fading away.
Its colours are only dull and dim now.
Birds and butterflies could not be seen anymore.
Rose blossoms lay wilted, gasping for air.
Today the sky is filled with shadows.
The fresh breeze is now nothing but staleness.
I step into the shadows and disappear.
Would anyone notice?
Would anyone even care?
