About Me:
One book reviewer summed up my writing in four simple words -- "Humor With A Message." This is the hallmark of my words, both written and spoken.
I lost laughter during a very difficult time in my life. Crisis and tragedy, culminating in my husband's death following a heart transplant, left me emotionally empty for a long time. Becoming a widow at the age of 35 forever changed my life. At first I felt only bitterness and depression. One evening a friend and I experienced something so funny, I suddenly realized I was laughing -- out loud! It felt terrific and it changed my life. Gradually, I learned to face the pain and glean eternal lessons from the worst time of my life. The fact that folks see me as a humorist demonstrates God's power to redeem pain and use it for good.
While I write with a sense of humor, I also write with a sense of purpose. I want those who read and hear my words to recognize God in all things and know that He is ever-present. So it is difficult to categorize my writing -- it is inspirational, it is motivational, it is religious, and it is educational. It also reflects my heritage as a child of the South, raised on a farm in Newnan, Georgia.
People often ask me why my stories have them laughing one minute and crying the next. "Because that is life," I respond. Life! That's what I write about!
